Music and Lyrics by WAYNE MOORE

Book by SHIRLEY HILLARD and DAN BERKOWITZ

"THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOLLYWOOD" opened June 1st, 2001 at the Stella Adler Theater in Los Angeles and earned great reviews and full houses. An original farce about the history of Hollywood and Movie Stars, the show takes place in the dreams of a girl named Dorothy from Kansas (not that one ... exactly!) and moves through time from Charlie Chaplin to Carmen Miranda to Cher, with Dorothy meeting seemingly every Movie Star in between.  The talented cast plays multiple roles in this fast-paced romp. (There are 110 costume changes!)

Original production directed and choreographed by RICK SPARKS

Patti Diamond as "Jeanette McDonald" and Scott Davidson as "Nelson Eddy"

Clay Adkins as "Elvis Presley" and Amy Colette as "The Beehive Blond"

"A snappy, campy parody ... Best Bet"
- L.A. Times

"Good-natured fun" - Backstage West

"... has every reason to attain cult status"
- IN Magazine

"Sensational!  Spectacular!"
- Entertainment Today

"This rollicking, wacky, campy 'movie biz' musical is jam-packed with talent, loaded with laughs and tons of fun." - Nite Lights

The musical numbers, like Dorothy's dream, move forward in time:  There's hokey melodrama with Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford ("Don't Think Small"), an Operatic shouting match for Jeanette McDonald and Nelson Eddy ("Jeanette And I"), a show-stopping turn by Hattie McDaniel ("Listen To Mammy"), a full stage MGM musical extravaganza ("Busby Berkeley"), and a 50's rock 'n' roll tribute to creature features ("Sci-Fi Movie").  Other songs include the cautionary "Be Careful What You Wish For" sung by Marilyn Monroe and James Dean, "Bananas" a madcap fruit fest by Carmen Miranda, "Divas" starring Bette Davis, May West and Greta Garbo - and 4 studio bigwigs singing the praises of movie sequels ala a pop Boy Group in "The Bottom Line".
