On March 8th, 2000 DUCY LEE RECORDINGS threw a
big CD release party for
at The Cinegrill
in the world-famous
HOLLYWOOD ROOSEVELT
HOTEL in Los Angeles
to introduce this terrific new album to the press.
Composer BILLY BARNES with DivasNANCY DUSSAULT (left) and KATHLEEN FREEMAN |
POLLY WARFIELD from Backstage West, BILLY and Diva JANE A. JOHNSTON |
There was lots of food & drink and a full house for the occasion! BILLY, JANE A. JOHNSTON, EILEEN BARNETT and CAROLE COOK performed songs from the CD, and posters and CDs were autographed by all the women.JO ANNE WORLEY& B.J. WARDwere both working out of town and sent their regrets, but the Divas in attendance were:
|
JANE A. JOHNSTON &
EILEEN BARNETT
KATHLEEN FREEMAN & NANCY DUSSAULT |
KAY COLE & BARBARA SHARMA Making this album with these talented women was a great pleasure. The creative energy for their dear freind Billy that they brought to this project spilled over into this evening. They said "Yes" all night to every picture, pose and poster we threw at them with a big smile! |
KAREN MORROW & CAROLE COOK |
The Divas were kept busy signing the posters made especially for this event, but my favorite part of the night was when BILLYwas singing his opening number. All the women grabbed posters for themselves and began madly signing them for each other, giggling all the while!
I love this picture! Broadway stars and life-long friends KAREN MORROW & NANCY DUSSAULT. |
Nancy signing a poster for a fan (right - actually Rick Starr from Hollywood Sheet Music. Hi, Rick!) But why am I not smiling? I was having a great time! |
At the end of the evening I brought all the Divas onstage to take a bow and we took this picture:

| l to r: Kay, Barbara, Carole, Nancy, Jane, Kathleen, Billy, Karen and Eileen |
As you can see, the talent on
this album is awe-inspiring. I'm very proud to add
to the DUCY LEE catalog as a tribute to a great songwriter and 10 one-of-a-kind
ladies!
